A rich, earthen palette dominates Faux Leather Horizons, where chocolate browns, espresso blacks, and muted terracotta stretch across the surface like weathered hide pulled taut over an endless plain. Henderson begins with a warm umber flood coat, then drizzles denser sepia lines that she drags horizontally using a silicone wedge. This gentle scraping technique produces subtle striations—creases and pores—that convincingly mimic the texture of aged leather. Within these horizontal bands, thin rivulets of matte charcoal settle into low valleys while brighter sienna ridges catch studio light, creating a sense of topography viewed from altitude. Here and there, pale sandstone cells break through, hinting at distant mesas or sun-bleached stitching.
